Directorate General of Immigration Implements Latest Policy on Visa Classification

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Immigration has streamlined Indonesia's visa classification from 133 to 110 indexes. This latest policy was enacted through the Decree of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections Number M.IP-08.GR.01.01 of 2025. This is the result of a comprehensive evaluation of visa applicant needs and efforts to optimize immigration services. With the simplification of indexes and the adjustment of new visa types, Indonesian Immigration is expected to provide services that are more relevant to global dynamics.

"One important breakthrough is the issuance of visa index C7C, which is a visit visa for arts, culture, and skills activities in fields other than music. This visa allows foreign nationals (WNA) to showcase their expertise in Indonesia, for example, magic shows, fan meetings, and even cooking demonstrations by professional chefs on television," stated Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman.

To facilitate foreign nationals from visa-free subject countries, the Directorate General of Immigration has established index A1 for tourism, business, and short-term medical activities (less than 30 days). Previously, business and medical categories had their own indexes. Meanwhile, foreign nationals who wish to use a Visa on Arrival (VoA) can now apply for a visa with index B1 for tourism, business, and medical purposes. This visa is valid for 30 days and can be extended once.

To address strategic development needs, the Directorate General of Immigration launched visa index E28F for foreign investors who will invest capital in the Nusantara Capital City. In addition, there is visa E28G for foreign investors who are placed as representatives of a parent company in its branch in Indonesia. With this visa, foreign investors are allowed to carry out duties as company representatives.

"In addition, this policy significantly simplifies work visa indexes, from the previous 31 types to only six types. Visas for foreign skilled workers with company sponsors, which previously consisted of 20 indexes (E23B-E23W), are now unified under index E23," Yuldi added.

The Directorate General of Immigration also established two new indexes for work visa categories with non-corporate sponsors, namely indexes E23U and E23V, to provide flexibility for applicants from non-corporate institutions or organizations.

"For complete information regarding the latest Indonesian visa indexes, please check our website, imigrasi.go.id," he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, stated, "With this new policy, we want to ensure that Indonesian immigration services are able to meet global needs while providing convenience for the international community who wish to conduct legitimate activities in Indonesia."
